Beautiful, vintage Carlton Ware dish or tray-I am no expert on Carlton Ware but after some research I believe this dates from the mid to late 1930 s. They certainly pulled out all the stops on this one-it has the lot, lustre, gilding, enamelling-the pattern is a representation of Lace Cap Hydrangeas and the flowers sit on a background of gilt leaves over darker leaves-the flowers themselves have small enamel flowers-anyone who has seen a lace cap Hydrangea will recognize the flower type-tho artistic licence has obviously been applied as far as colour goes! The tiny enamelled flowers also decorate the sides of the dish-the base colour is aqua with pink blush. Only faults I can find are the gilt on the handles is worn, this can be seen in the photo, no chips, cracks etc. and the only crazing that is apparent is on the plain white base and this is very faint. Pattern No. is 3969, has four sets of artists initials, also has a /1334-could have been a letter or number before the slash but not possible to read. Has impressed number also-difficult to read & have not been able to decipher. Altogether gorgeous! Measurements are 22cms long, 14 cms wide and approx 2.5 cms deep. Beautiful Vintage Mother pictur with lovely oak frame. Picture says "What is home without a Mother" Lovely old vintage oak frame measures 2 1/2 inches wide frame with glass. Note photos.
